In 2004, Frank Stella participates, in Brazil, in the exhibition Frank Stella e Nuno Ramos: Afinidades e Diversidades, where he presents the panel The Foundling (n#6) . In this work of large proportions (16m x 4m) that occupies completely the visual camp of the observer, Stella uses acrylic, airbrush, linoleum, and plastic resin, creating an expressive field to discover the hand work of the art work .
The art work permits a trip of freedom, and, at the same time, to meet again the textures and chromatic effects of previous phases. The artist who is a fan of race cars and speed, in this sequence, puts the visitor in a “chromatic spacecraft”. Some of the tones in flat areas constitute distant reminiscences of minimalism. They are opposites; they also point the idea of time and space in the experience of this macro universe.
