Umberto Boccioni
Formas Únicas da Continuidade no Espaço (Unique Shapes of Continuity in Space), 1913
Bronze
116 x 85 x 38 cm
Donated MAMSP

Despite Cubism's influence in Boccioni's production,  Formas Únicas da Continuidade no Espaço (Unique Shapes of Continuity in Space) includes concepts of dynamics and simultaneity: shapes and spaces that move simultaneously and towards opposite directions. As other futurist artists, Boccioni had serious problems representing human beings or animals with many limbs moving and in a triangular movement; however, in this painting the artist was able to shape Futurism and succeeded in representing speed and particularly an illusion of projecting elements in space.
